Ted is a typical religious nut.
I'm not religious and don't believe in GOD. I wish I did and think life might be easier if I had but I don't.
What I don't understand is why whenever anyone who does believe in GOD discuses the "chance" that there might not be a GOD and the subject turns scientific they always seem to get mad.
Are they getting mad because the might know what they believe in doesn't add up and they don't want to admit it?
I think you are right about the reasons they get mad. I would add a quote from Reinhold Nibuhr:
"Frantic orthodoxy is never rooted in faith but in doubt."
